Hyacinth flowers fill a room with delightful fragrance and color, lifting winter spirits. Enjoy indoors now, and then plant in the garden for years of successive blooms. A member of the Lily family native to the eastern Mediterranean.
Water: Keep planting mix slightly moist at all times. Light: Full light until flowers appear. Plant will grow toward light. Rotate container often to produce a straight stem. Once a flower has opened, indirect sunlight and cooler will promote longer flower life Continuing Care: To reflower cut off flower stalks and continue watering. When night temperatures are above 35°F bulbs can be planted in the garden. Shortly after planting in ground, apply a 5-10-5 fertilizer following label directions. Over a six week period gradually reduce water to encourage bulb to go dormant. Cut leaves to soil level only after they have turned brown. Keep dry until winter rains trigger new growth. Blooms will appear December through spring in USDA zones 3-8. Temperature: Warm room temperatures, 65–75°F in flowering growth process, once flower has opened cooler temperatures will prolong flower life. USDA Zones: 3-8
